Frågan är inte huruvida papperstidningar är värda att räddas eller bör finnas kvar eller inte. Frågan är om god journalistik kan överleva.

TechCrunch för en diskussion kring ämnet:

While we casually discussed our most current endeavors and experiences, the discussion shifted to deep conversation about the future of journalism in the era of socialized media with one simple question, “are newspapers worth saving?”

Walt thought for no more than two seconds and assertively replied, “It’s the wrong question to ask. The real question we should ask is if whether or not we can save good journalism.” He continued, “Think about it. Of the hundreds, thousands, of newspapers around the country, there are really only a few that matter. Good journalism and journalists, on the other hand, are worth saving.”

Ibland beskylls bloggvärlden för att ha en otrevlig ton och att vara allmänt ohyfsad. Men i det här fallet är det en representant för “gammelmedia” som inte vet hur man beter sig. Reportern på Nöjesguiden har skrivit en recension om Generation Kill och får en kritisk kommentar som inte direkt bemöts med hyfs.

Tellier: Ahaaa, så du skrev inte “Margit” istället för det korrekta Margret för att vara rolig, utan för att du stavade fel? Då är du ju bara slarvig och ointelligent. Har ingen lust att svara på frågor från en sådan individ heller. Men okej, jag tycker du är jobbig som fortsätter kommentera trots att jag bett dig att dra, så…
